A Bareilly painted wood chest Eastern India, 19th Century of rectangular form with hinged lid, the stand of foliate form, decorated in gold-colour on a black ground to each side with panels containing floral interlace, the borders with undulating floral vines, the stand with floral and foliate motifs the chest 61.5 x 45.5 x 46.3 cm.(2) Footnotes: Traditionally thought to have been from Canton these chests are now known to have been exported from Bareilly, Eastern India.
