LARGE PORCELAIN FISH BOWL
China, Qing Dynasty, Late 19th century, Guangxu Period
Imposing as much by its proportions as by its rich decoration and the freshness of its colours. It is adorned in a polychrome enamelled palette in the style of the "Green Family" of three dragons with five claws, respectively red, yellow and purple, flying among cloudy volutes and over restless waves in pursuit of the pearl of eternity.
H: 41 cm - D: 47 cm
Note: According to Chinese etiquette, the five-clawed dragon, although it was overused in the 19th century, is the Emperor's prerogative.
