YIXING GRES COVERED TEAPOT WITH TIN SHEATH FROM YANG PENGNIAN, 楊彭年製

Domed shape with cut hexagonal sides, the handle moved in wood to avoid heat conduction, the spout in esse. The lid is topped by a cubic fritel that looks like it is made of jade. The pewter covering the stoneware teapot with incised decoration, short colophon and bamboo on the obverse (XX先生 and X山), long colophon on the reverse (侍臣每有 / 相如渴俸 / 使迁徵邺 / 下才 / 主洽). Stamped stamp in the stoneware at the bottom of the teapot: 楊彭年製 (transcript of characters not guaranteed).
