此碗以宣德霁蓝为范本烧制，胎体坚实，器形规整，腹部曲线自然、秀美，施釉肥厚，色泽明艳、稳定，色蓝如海，莹润、均匀，静穆雅致。古代十分讲究各种祭祀活动，如祭天、地、日、月；祭山河、祖先、神灵，等等。各种祭祀活动有严格的规制，使用什么器物，采用什么颜色，都有明确的规定，比如皇室祭祀月神，就规定皇帝着蓝色祭袍，使用蓝釉瓷器。
