A Large Japanese Bronze Group of Hotei seated on the back of an ox, the corpulent monk with his robe open to his substantial waist as he rests one arm on his sack of treasures, the bovine stands foursquare with head turned to its left, a painted or printed mark to its belly, length 43cms, height 39cms; with A Bronze Figure of a Boy standing with arms held out to either side, height 17.6cms, Early 20th Century Condition Report: The boy and the ox would have originated together on a single wood base, the boy holding a halter that passed through the ox's septum. The remains of the "rope" is still there in the animal's nose, the boys feet have vestigial pegs with which to anchor him to the stand. Wear to the bottom of the ox's hooves.
