Huang Binhong moved to Beijing in 1937 and started teaching in the Beijing Fine Art Academy till 1948, when he moved to Hangzhou to continue teaching. Huang left behind thousands of sketches, and drafts as teaching aids, some of which were published to offer an insight into Huang's artistic pursuit. The typical way Huang addresses the dedication in this current lot implies that the dedicated is a colleague of Huang's in a teaching environment.
