* A SILVER AND COPPER-INLAID BRASS EWER PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT PRIVATE EUROPEAN COLLECTOR Khorasan, North-Eastern Iran, 12th - 13th century Of faceted cylindrical shape, resting on a splayed circular foot, with narrowing shoulders, rising to a tall tubular neck with a straight spout at the top, and a curved handle on the side, the body engraved and decorated with a central band of interlocking medallions filled with stylised vegetal sprays, framed within two bands of foliated Kufic script against scrolling tendrils, a similar calligraphic band inlaid in copper and silver running around the shoulders, rosettes and knotwork bands on the foot and neck, the spout and each side of the neck embellished with a hammered and chased lion figure, further knotwork bands all along the handle, 27.2cm high.
