Kangxi period Finely embroidered with a central crane roundel, the white feathers of the cranes finely worked in satin stitch, the black neck and wingtip feathers embroidered using peacock feather filaments, and the red crown executed in knotted stitch, surrounded by cloud scrolls, beneath a red sun and above a rock rising from churning waves, set against a shimmering ground of gold-wrapped threads, couched in an irregular patchwork pattern, framed by scroll border also rendered in peacock feather filaments. 14 1/4 x 14in (36.2 x 35.5cm)
