After David Teniers II (Flemish, 1610-1690) Le Fumeur/Interior with a Man Seated Before a Chimney, Filling His Pipe Unsigned, attributed to Teniers on a presentation plaque. Oil on panel, 8 5/8 x 6 1/2 in. (22.0 x 16.5 cm), framed. Condition: Retouch to the edges of the panel, heavily varnished, fine craquelure, varnish bloom or similar along bottom edge, backed with a secondary panel. N.B. This work was probably painted after the print by Jacques-Philippe Le Bas published in 1747, as the composition is reversed from the original painting by David Teniers II. Provenance: The estate of George Way. Estimate $700-900 Framed dimensions are 16 1/4 x 14 x 1 1/2 in. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
