Flemish School, 18th Century Gentleman with White Hair and Flat Linen Collar, Wearing One Glove, Seated in a Red Armchair Before a Window Unsigned. Oil on canvas, 49 x 39 1/2 in. (124.5 x 100.0 cm) framed. Condition: Lined, small vertical tear to u.c., craquelure with lifting, paint losses, area of significant surface losses measuring 15 x 17 in. including the area of the left hand and glove where underpainting is visible, varnish inconsistencies. N.B. The sitter bears a resemblance to Sir Isaac Newton. Provenance: The estate of George Way. Estimate $700-900 Framed dimensions are 54 5/8 x 45 3/8 2 1/4 inches.
