Dimensions: 3.875in H x 5.25in W Chinese antique polychrome porcelain Tea pot. Thick potted, tea pot in globular tall body, raised upon a wide flat base, with dome lid finial. Flanked with archaic u-shape curved spout and a simply looped handle. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the polychrome design color. Polychrome colors added to the basic transfer hand painting after firing were that of green, orange, red and yellow. What craft master did after hand painting was to add splashes of color either underglaze or overglaze to many of their ironstone wares to meet the changing taste of the times. The exterior decorated in abundant wheat with a grasshopper in the branch, among Chinese calligraphy poem with a red reign mark.
