Dimensions: 10-1/2" H x 5-7/8" W Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Qianlong zong vase. The Porcelain potted in Zong shape vase, thick and tall, squared body, with short circle opening mouth and foot base, raised on round shallow foot. Essentially tubes with a square cross-section and a circular hole, having rib molded corners in form of a traditional hair pin along the sides stacked as modules, one atop another. The shape of the Zong with its square and circular shape could be interpreted as 'the unity of heaven and earth' where the square represents the earth and a circle represents the heaven. Decorated in Douqing hand painting, all reserved in pale-turquoise- pale green celadon under glazed ground, the green glaze creates a mottled effect around the rim which is likened unto the blushing of human pale white skin. The immaculate porcelain body covered with a characteristic silky glaze, amazing crackling effect throughout the under glaze which produces fantastic a smooth textured surface. The porcelain displays a subtle sheen as the light ricochets across the finely glazed exterior. Mark on under base, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty. See More
