PROVENANCE: From Private collections of Mr. Peter Lyon (1938-2016), After graduation in 1959 he joined the military and was trained as a fighter pilot for the Marine corp. Retiring from the military his next career was as a commercial pilot for Pan American and United Airlines flying 747 aircraft in the pacific and orient. During his layovers he searched for fine porcelains which he proudly added to his private collection. A portion of his collection is being sold at auction to benefit his charitable interests. Dimensions: 20-1/2" H x 10-14" Dia. Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, double groud vase. The Chinese porcelain potted in a shape of double gourd resemblance, with two bulbous bellies conjoined together, bulbous lower section finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top, suspending a tall cylindrical neck, with a straight opening lip, raised on slightly short splayed foot base and slighty concave. The exterior decorated with hand-painting in cobalt blue underglazed, depicted of various flowers blooms, interspersed foliage and ripe fruits, enclosed with double fine blue rings lines. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim. The porcelain displays a subtle sheen as the light ricochets across the finely glazed exterior. See More
