The canvas has good tension and the picture is in plane. There are slight stretcher bar marks starting to form. There is a paint loss along the lower edge. Older losses have been filled and retouched. The losses are likely to be caused by impact rather than instability in the paint layers which appear stable overall. The painting is unvarnished.
