Perquam docta resoluta ac compendiosa de peccatis summula nuperrime castigate’. Thomas de Vio, usually called Caietano after his birthplace Gaeta, played an important role in the early days of the Reformation. He was the papal legate at the Diet of Augsburg in 1518 to whom the task of examining Luther’s teachings was entrusted.
