ECOLE MILITAIRE DE BRIENNE LE CHÂTEAU
Louis Sébastien Berton (1746-1811), Principal of the Military College of Brienne-le-Château, until his suppression, in 1790, he had as a student the future Emperor, Napoleon, who later said about him: "He is too hard". Having taken the constitutional oath, he was appointed vicar of the bishop of Sens, until Napoleon appealed to him in 1800 to become bursar of the college of Saint-Cyr. Letter to a father, le Chevalier (x) whose son is making little progress in school. Attached are four other letters with similar content written by other directors of Brienne, including one to Monsieur de Villepatour (1719-1781).
