Louis Eugène Cavaignac (1802-1857), General and French statesman, Governor of Algeria (1848) then president of the Council of Ministers in charge of executive power during the year 1848. Candidate for the presidential election of 1848, he is beaten by Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte. Two documents headed by "French Republic, in the name of the French People, Executive Power", one dated July 10, 1848 inviting the Minister of Justice, the other dated August 17, 1848 inviting the Minister of War.
