It may be blazoned as follows: Crest: A naked arm grasping a sword proper Motto: Deo dono sum quod sum [By the gift of God I am what I am] Note: Undoubtedly the owner of this goblet claims descent from the family of the Lumsdens of Cushnie in the County of Aberdeenshire. They stemmed from Thomas Lumsden of Conland in the County of Fife and of Medlar in the County of Aberdeenshire, who was living during the mid to late 15th Century. Whether or not he was in the direct line of descent we have no knowledge, but if not, he was undoubtedly numbered as a member of one the numerous cadet branches of the family.
