A lovely Gandharan stucco head from the Indus Valley, ca. 4th - 5th Century AD. This superbly detailed sculpture is 3.25 inches tall, is masterfully carved from stucco and depicts the Buddha. He is portrayed with a serene countenance, elongated ears with pierced lobes and hair gathered in a topknot. Traces of red pigment typical of the Hadda types remain embedded in the facial features.
