French Louis Goret Gilt Bronze Clock. Features gilt bronze gilt with a representation of the Roman **** Coriolanus and his mother Veturia. Veturia is the mother of Coriolanus (one of the nine worthiest women) from the story of Coriolanus. The clock stands on eight feet and depicts various Roman short swords, lances and armor. This extremely fine gilt bronze and white marble mantel clock has a white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals and inner calendar ring for the 31 days of the month, with a fine pair of gilt brass hands for the hours and minutes and blued steel pointer for the calendar indications. Dial is signed " Louis Goret Paris" The case portraying Coriolanus dressed ready for battle in intricately detailed armor is further finished with military motif decorations throughout.
