A Framed Thirty-Two Pieces Porcelain Painting of the Peaceful Spring(~1960), signed by Chen Zhi Fo.The tape is removable. Len***: 24.25" Height: 48.5" Chen ******d a harmonious and joyful atmosphere with his fine portrait of spring plants and flowers as well as the gathering of a group of pigeons. Despite the relatively large number of pigeons, they are grouped in order but in a lively way – an auspicious sign of spring in traditional Chinese belief. Chen Zhifo (1895-1963) was a Chinese Asian Modern & Contemporary artist who was born in 1895. He spent six years studying arts and crafts in Japan. After the age of thirty-five, he concentrated on traditional Chinese "meticulous brush" paintings like the one shown here. It is confined to a narrow range of delicate colors and retains a Japanese sensitivity to silhouette and the beauty of a particular moment. His work was featured in exhibitions at the Ma*** Museum of Art and the Soka Art Center, Beijing. Chen Zhifo's work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging from $200 USD to $373,723 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork. Since 2003 the record price for this artist at auction is $373,723 USD for BIRDS AND FLOWERS, sold at XiLingYinShe Auction Co. Ltd. in 2011. In 1918, he went to study at the Tokyo Imperial Art School (Arts and Crafts Section). In 1923, after graduation, he returned to China and taught in various institutions: the Shanghai Oriental Art College, the Guangzhou Art College, the National Central University of Nanjing, and the Shanghai Art College where he was the principal. A pioneer in the teaching of modern art craft, he enriched traditional painting with nuances of Japanese painting and the decorative style of graphic art. In September of 1935 he participated in the first exhibition or***ized by the Association Fine Arts of China. His paintings of flowers and birds with dense colors and meticulous layout were highly appreciated. In 1942, he or***ized his own exhibition of painting in March. In 1949, he was director of the Association of Chinese Artists.
