A Kashu tanto in fine silver Goto-school mounts Muromachi period (1333-1573), 16th century, and Edo period (1615-1868), 19th century Of hirazukuri, iorimune configuration forged in running itame hada with a gunome midare tempered edge based in nie and nioi with sunagashi and tobiyaki, ending in a ko-maru boshi with some hakikake, the ubu nakago with two holes, indistinct file marks and signed Kagemitsu, with a one-piece gold-foil habaki, 10in (25.4cm) long, in a wood shirasaya storage scabbard The 19th-century aikuchi goshirae of silver, decorated on the surface with scrolling vines in kebori and applied with large chrysanthemum blossoms in silver and gold, and gold hollyhock crests, signed on the fuchi Goto Mitsutoshi, the saya fitted with a shakudo kozuka decorated to match the ensemble, the blade engraved with several of the Immortal Poets and their poems in katakiribori With Hozon Token (Sword Worthy of Preservation) certificate no. 3008873 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword), dated May 29, 2015 With Tokubetsu Kicho Tosogu (Sword Fitting Especially Worthy of Preservation) certificate no. 1279 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword), dated November 21, 1971
