金刚持是藏传佛教密宗极为推崇的圣尊，是消业灭罪的唯一主尊。常持本尊真言，能破除烦恼，止诸恶念，生诸功德。此尊造像面相宽阔，神态慈悲祥和。耳圆状坠饰垂肩，身躯宽肩细腰，胸膛挺起，肢体刻划厚实，展现出雍容大度的气势。双手交叉于胸前，结哞迦罗印，分别表示智慧与方便，象征悲智双运。身上以项链、璎珞等装饰，华美绝伦，细部刻画精致。束腰仰覆式莲花座，莲瓣饱满圆鼓。此尊金刚持工艺复杂，金色饱满悦目，饰物精雕细刻，具有极高的艺术性。
