An unusual early 20th century Chinese lacquered and painted hall bureau or stationary cabinet, of diminutive proportions, with a scrolling pierced gallery above a locking fall-front lacquered panelled door, decorated with applied porcelain motifs of finches perching amongst flowering bamboo, opening to reveal a fitted interior, raised on swept supports united by a shaped stretcher, painted throughout with scrolling borders, foliage, flowers and butterflies, 119 cm high, 54 cm wide, 10cm deep (50cm deep at base).
