A Safavid miniature of a prince offered a cup, Iran, 16th century, with later repainting, opaque pigments and gold on paper, the youthful prince shown seated with legs crossed against a blue and white possibly textile ground in a tiled interior, an inscription above, attendants to his left and right, a pool of water below with gold candlestands and bowl, with onlookers above in two tiers of balconies, the reverse with two columns each with 17ll. of black Persian nastaliq,within Safavid silk and gilt metal thread textile mount depicting birds perched amongst peach peonies and blue flowers, folio 23.5 x 15.5cm.
