此碟以青花绘螃蟹，细致写实，富有生气，充满文人意趣，令人联想起明代画家徐渭常绘的秋蟹图。螃蟹有甲壳，芦苇谐音“胪”，故两只螃蟹加上芦苇，有“二甲传胪”之寓意。《明史•选举志》记：“会试第一位会元，二甲第一为传胪”。二甲传胪亦即是祝愿对方在科举考试内金榜题名，螃蟹与芦苇遂成为中国艺术中受人喜爱的吉祥纹饰。此盘青花发色淡雅，盘型周正，是一件不可多得藏品。底有花押款。
