玉菩萨历来就是至宝。明人郎瑛的笔记《七修类稿》里有载，杭州一寺院因有玉观音菩萨之珍宝，得以香火鼎盛。 此像黄玉质，温润光泽。像戴宝冠，璎珞环佩，神情娴淑；跏趺坐于座上，衣纹仅微微修饰却刻画得极为流畅；雕刻刀法娴熟，满饰璎珞修饰得极为华美。 大小不过寸许，却塑造得栩栩，制作殊为不易，如是佩戴，是件很吉祥的随身佛。玉佛作为信仰和精神的载体，因而超越了其自然的属性，极是珍贵。
