A CLOISONNÉ ENAMELED VASE, FANG ZU
China, Qing dynasty, 19th century
The rectangular section reaching the maximum width near the shoulder, along the corners robust rivets in relief, the two semicircular handles protruding from a dragon's head, the polychrome enameled decoration consisting of motifs of archaic taste, including stylized dragons, lanceolate leaves and a taotie mask, six-character apocryphal Jingtai mark incised to the center of the base.

A vase very similar to this, dated to the 18th century and probably its prototype, is kept in the museum Les Arts Décoratifs-musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris (B. Quette, edited by, Cloisonné. Chinese Enamels from the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, exhibition catalogue, New York 2011, p. 261, n. 73).
