By Tametsugu, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Naturalistically carved with its body slightly curved to the right and its tail thrashing the water, its eyes double inlaid with gilt and dark pupils, signed on the underside in a rectangular reserve Tametsugu; with a wood tomobako box inscribed Koi (Carp) and on the inside of the lid Yugado Tametsugu saku (Made by Yugado Tametsugu) with seal Yugado. 34.5cm (13½in) long.
