A rectangular nephrite brush washer19th century
Designed as a circular basin with pearled rim and bombé walls encircled by overlapping lotus petals rising to the center of the curving shallow well to a rectangular tray, the tray with rounded corners carved in delicate low relief with bats flying amid dense cloud scrolls and a fine key-fret band around the flat rim, the exterior walls and recessed base also covered with dense cloud scrolls; the pale gray-green matrix marked with a few tiny black inclusions, some natural fissure lines and oatmeal-colored veins.
