Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting was originally published on the Fleetwood First Day Cover for the U.S. 25c Flag with Clouds stamp issued May 6, 1988. Designed not long after the American Revolution, the American flag flies boldly -- a symbol throughout the world of freedom for all. Through two centuries of growth, the red, white and blue of her cloth have brought tears to the eyes of the oppressed, and her stars -- grown in number from 13 to 50 -- have stood for unity within. "One nation, indivisible..." is part of the pledge which binds her citizens to a noble creed of "liberty and justice for all." Though the nation has stumbled in the past, the flag, its creed and the people have pulled her together as one. And, today, the American flag is hailed -- an honored guest -- at public events throughout the land, however casual or esteemed those events might be.
