Southeast Asia, 1st millennium AD. The coins were excavated in Myanmar, in what was formerly the territory of Champa, each of circular shape, of varying size and thickness, and with fine repoussé showing Vedic symbols, Sanskrit characters, conches, mythical beasts, and deities. Provenance: Ex-Collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Condition: Very good condition with minor traces of age and wear, soil encrustations, one coin has broken in several pieces.
