The sword was found by Fred Donaldson in the hands of the Pollack family, whose relative was probable owner Quartermaster Sgt. John F. Pollack, a member of the Orleans Light Horse. Interestingly, the initials A.B.G. match another possible owner, Arthur Breese Griswold, also a member of the Orleans Light Horse
