Paul Müller-Kaempff, a painter from Oldenburg, became famous at the end of the 19th century for his landscape paintings and as co-founder of the artists' colony Ahrenshoop. His work focuses on the traditional architecture of the farmhouses and the rough coastal landscape of the Baltic Sea with its wind-sculpted sand dunes and trees. On his forays along the coast he examined the changing atmosphere of the landscape in the course of the seasons. Der Oldenburger Maler Paul Müller-Kaempff wurde Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts für seine Landschaftsgemälde und als Mitbegründer der Künstlerkolonie Ahrenshoop berühmt. Im Mittelpunkt seines Werks steht die Beschäftigung mit der traditionellen Architektur der Bauernhäuser und der rauen Küstenlandschaft der Ostsee mit ihren vom Wind geformten Sanddünen und Bäumen. Auf seinen Streifzügen entlang der Küste untersuchte er die sich verändernde Stimmung der Landschaft im Wandel der Jahreszeiten.
