The exterior finely painted in purple monochrome, the cover depicting a seated female figure personifying Saxony, with the crozier and mitre and the Electorial arms of Saxony to one side and wearing the Electoral crown, to her left a standing figure representing Fame holding a tablet inscribed with the titles of Clemens Wenzelaus and military trophies to the rear, the sides with naturalistic flower sprigs, the base painted with two female figures on clouds holding a mirror and censer, respectively, the inside cover superbly painted with a circular portrait panel depicting Clemens Wenzeslaus of Saxony as Elector of Trier within a gilt foliate cartouche reserved on an olive ground, the mounts chased with a meandering ribbon and flowers, 7.8cm across, impressed shield mark to inside base
