His drawings are in museums in Darmstadt, Hamburg and Berlin. As a battle painter he was influenced by Jacques Courtois and Pieter Van Laer and his compositions are characterised by low horizons. The crossing of the Little Belt is in the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm. His portrait was engraved by Sandrart and his miniature self-portrait is in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (A3443).
