A FINELY CARVED WOOD TONKOTSU (TOBACCO CASE) AND A NETSUKE. Edo period, possibly late 18th Century. The tonkotsu of oval form intricately carved in high relief with the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove under a canopy of bamboo leaves, attached with a copper ‘leaf’ ojime and a wood figural netsuke of two Chinese court ladies standing beside a flowerbed, the tonkotsu 7 x 9cm, the netsuke 3.5cm.
