Bronzenes Batillum (Weihrauchschaufel). Römische Kaiserzeit, östlicher Mittelmeerraum, 1. - 2. Jh. n. Chr. L 40,8cm, B 17cm. Rechteckige Schaufel mit reich verziertem Henkel, an dessen Ende eine Akanthusblüte über Voluten angebracht ist. Grüne Patina, intakt. Solche Schaufeln werden gerne mit jüdischen Ritualen in Verbindung gebracht, können aber auch im paganen religiösen Kontext verwendet worden sein.
