A FINE AND RARE BRONZE CENSER OF SHOULAO RIDING A BUFFALO, China, marked Wanli jiwei nian zhi (1619) and of the period, seated astride his trotting buffalo which head is turned towards Shoulao, equipped with a pair of large curved horns and snout, Shoulao is holding a scroll in his left hand while the right is resting on his knee, wearing various garments including a wide-sleeved mantle, his large bald head displaying a serene expression and his open mouth is framed by a long beard and moustache, the body of the buffalo with cartouche containing the date - Property from the estate of the collection of Prof. Dr med., Dr phil.
