AN EXECPTIONAL VERY PALE GREEN JADE VASE AND COVER, China, Qianlong period, of rectangular section rising from a splayed foot to high shoulders and a waisted neck, flanked by a pair of mythical beast handles, the body carved in relief with differing stylized shou characters in seal script, the stone of a very pale light green tone with minor russet veins - Provenance: Important South German private collection, assembled between 1950 and 1987 - The present vase is particularly noteworthy for its fine quality of jade stone. The process of its carving on the exterior and the hollowing of the deep interior would have entailed a significant amount of wastage of the prized stone, making this vase an exceptionally prized object. As such, it would have probably adorned the interior of one of the imperial palaces or the home of a high-ranking official - Very few very tiny chips at the cover edges Exzellente Deckelvase aus Jade mit Shou-Charaktern CHINA, Qianlong-Periode H. 20,2 cm Provenienz: Aus einer bedeutenden süddeutschen Privatsammlung, zwischen 1950 und 1987 gesammelt - Wenige winzige Bestoßungen, schön erhalten
