A Bhutanese black stone stele of Padmansambhava. 18th/19th century The lotus-born guru seated cross-legged on a lotus, holding a vajra in his raised right hand and a skull cup in his left, with a trident leaning against his left shoulder, flanked by Manjushri and Maitreya, and two taras below. Remains of pigments. Mounted on a metal stand. Height 15.8 cm Provenance Private collection, Germany, acquired at Lempertz Stele des Padmansambhava. Schwarzer Stein. Bhutan. 18./19. Jh.
