The reverse of the picture is very dusty, but the canvas has good tension and is in plane. The paint layers are in a good condition overall. There are areas of overpaint present which are well matched to the original - for example in the sitter's face and the floor boards. The varnish is clear, even and glossy. The frame is in a good condition.
