King Charles I in armour mounted on horseback oil on canvas 54 x 46.5cm Footnote: Based on the life-size painting in the National Gallery, London, where the horse has a different colour coat and the King is not holding a lance. Condition report: Oil on canvas which has been lined. Old tears in the upper half of the painting have been repaired. The paint layer has localised areas of raised paint with some vulnerable areas and small losses. The tears have been retouched, these retouchings have become discoloured and pale. Smaller, scattered losses in the darker areas are well matched. The varnish is glossy but yellowed with age. The frame is in a good condition with some wear to the gilding.
