'Ben Bolt, Winner of the Grand National Hunt Plate at Punchestown, 1862' signed lower right 'W Osborne / at Cornish Terrace / Rathmines' and inscribed lower left 'Ben Bolt' oil on canvas 61 x 73.5cm Condition report: Oil on canvas which is unlined. There are minor undulations across the surface caused by cracks in the paint layer pulling the canvas forward. There is a small hole at the centre of the painting with associated paint loss. The paint is starting to lift in localised areas. But overall it is in a decent condition. The thin varnish layer is matte but even and there is a light layer of dust and accretions across the surface . The frame has suffered from losses to the gesso and gilding along the top edge.
