Dimensions: 11-1/8" H x 4-3/4" W Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Tea dust glazed Cong vase. Potted in Cong shape vase, thick, squared body, with short circle opening mouth and foot base, raised on round shallow foot. Essentially tubes with a square cross-section and a circular hole, having rib molded corners in form of a traditional hair pin along the sides stacked as modules, one atop another. The shape of the Zong with its square and circular shape could be interpreted as 'the unity of heaven and earth' where the square represents the earth and a circle represents the heaven. Decorated in covered overall in pale green under glazed with densely dusted , with attractive green pale toward upper rim on a green pale porcelain body with golden-yellow pickles pattern covered all the vase. The Iridescent Green pale, gilt splashes and streaks characteristic of this glaze are described as yao bian, or transmutation glaze and resulting from transmutation of colloidal copper, iron, or other metallic materials into suffusions breaking up the glaze surface. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned. Mark on base, a six embossed seal script characters reign mark, Made in The Years of Yongzheng Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
