Dimensions: 18-1/2" H x 9" Diam. Chinese Qing Dynasty Kangxi Reign Period, Large Blue Festival Temple vase. The vase potted in a Chinese porcelain traditional Gu shape. The beaker having baluster shaped body, with slightly arise belly, trumpet-shaped neck. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in deep blue underglaze base color. The exterior masterfully covered in an even coat of a deep blue glaze which terminates at the base to reveal the pure white underglaze. The blue glaze creates a mottled effect around the rim which is likened unto the blushing of human skin. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the receded central interior base left white underglaze. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the underglaze grayish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned. Mark on under base, a six underglaze script characters reign mark, enclosed with double fine blue fine ring lines, Kangxi Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
