Dimensions: 10.25in H x 7.25in W x 7.25in D Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Qianlong red glazed dragon reward vase. The porcelain potted in shape reward vase, globular lower body, slight oval, tapered gracefully toward straight tall neck, slightly flaring upper opening lip, raised on slightly short a small foot base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the iron red design color. The exterior adorned with snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a dark brown color dragon squama rounded the bowl to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. This piece displays a subtle sheen as the light ricochets across the finely exterior, glazed smooth, brilliant with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six underglaze red script characters reign mark, Made In The Years of Qianlong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
