16th/17th century Expertly embroidered in subdued colors depicting the Guanyin holding a young boy sitting in front of a bamboo grove, and next to a blue elixir vase, with another boy standing to the side of a female devotee carrying her offering in her both hands toward the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion, the upper left with a black ink inscription of a two-line poem matching the embroidered theme, the right side with the colophon reading 'Gu Xiangyuan xiu songzi Guanyin' (Gu Xiangyuan embroidery of the Guanyin, the Giver of Sons). 37 x 16in (94 x 40.5cm) excluding mounting and frame
