A beautifully carved Maya cylinder from El Salvador, ca. 400 - 700 AD. It is 6-1/2 in high, 5-1/4 in in diameter and is decorated with a glyph band characteristic of the Pacific Slope ceramics. The body of the vessel is deeply ribbed, with remnants of painted stucco evident. The glyph band is highlighted with red cinnabar pigment. Intact, strong mineral deposits, old find site sticker on the bottom. (MA841)
