C. AD 618 and 907. Tang Dynasty. A pair of Tang Dynasty musician ladies. Both musicians are wearing a long flowing gowns with creme skirts and orange bodices. Both ladies are delicately made up with red lip paint, blush, delicate arching brows and elaborate hairdos. One is playing a pan flute whilst the other plays a stringed instrument. Music as an art form reached its peak in China during the Tang Dynasty, which is now known as the golden age of Chinese music and dance. Indeed, during this time The Great Music Bureau (太樂署) was created as a means through with to train musicians and dancers for the imperial court.
